    Description

*** BRAND NEW   *** BRAND NEW   *** BRAND NEW   *** BRAND NEW ***
This is a wifeless wi-fi card.   It is 802.11G.  All routers support this speed at 54 Mbps.   Yours will be new and is still in the ESD protection bag (like the third and fourth picture).  Drivers are available for Windows 98 Second Edition (See note below) Windows 2000 XP, Vista.  W
    orks great with Windows 7
.  It found and updated the driver on my windows 7 laptop while connected to a wired connection without loading anything else.  It only works with 32 bit windows 7
Model number of card is SMCWCB-G.  Part # 98-012084-563.  The download links will be available in the shipment you receive!   I have made a copy of the actual install disk.  SMC does not have the correct driver for this on their site.  If you don't have the means or capability to download the driver from the internet and transfer to the computer you are installing the card on (thumb drive or CD, etc), DON'T BUY THIS...  Instead see my other auction that has the same card with driver in the box.   It costs a couple dollars more but will save you time, unless you are computer savvy and can download and so it yourself.
Please note, under XP, you should select driver only during the install.  Do not install configuration manager on XP.
Make sure your notebook supports cardbus. Some very old notebooks (pre year 1998) do not support this and the card will not fit.   If you need help determining, just send me the model number ahead of purchase.
    Windows 98 Installs
None of the drivers for Windows 98 support WPA2.  If you are connecting windows 98 to your router, you
MUST USE WEP or No Security
.  WEP was all that existed for windows 98.  Also be aware, your browsing experience on any old browser will not be the same as on a new computer with a new browser. (and not because of the connection speed).  I say this to make you aware if your intention is to browse the internet with windows 98 and an older unsupported browser, its very painful.  You won't even be able to properly get to google.com (it won't look the same)!
If your intent is to get to your private network, and share files, and you are willing to put this on the guest network with no security and or use WEP encryption, then windows 98 will work fine.
If you don't understand what I just said, please don't buy the card, you're in over your head.  Thanks
On Windows 98, install the driver first and when asked, then insert the card.  On some 98 systems, the install above will not work.  In that case, please install the older driver I include the link in the package.
